Peters Valley Craft Education Center

Peters Valley is an educational and cultural organization located in a group of historic 19th century buildings inside the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Just fifteen minutes from Milford, in Sussex County, NJ, the Center is dedicating to preserving and perpetuating fine crafts. Peters Valley has artists-in-residence in several disciplines, including blacksmithing, jewelry making, woodworking, fiber, ceramics and other disciplines.

These skilled artisans on their teach beginning and advanced courses, demonstrate techniques and sell their wares. One-day workshops and short courses are offered in the summer.

State Park Environmental Education

Programs are offered at many of the regions’s state parks. Interpretative programs include hikes, outings and campfire presentations. Call the individual state park offices for program details and schedules.

PPL Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center

The PPL Lake Wallenpaupack Office, located in the lower level of the Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center, is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The staff is available by appointment only.

Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC)

Located at the site of a former resort, this non-profit education organization offers a diverse environmental experience for young and old. The center has 12 miles of hiking trails though its grounds and access to 20,000 acres of public lands nearby, making it an ideal place for nature study, hiking, birding and more. PEEC is great for schools, churches and youth groups, offering weekend workshops, including family vacation camps. Several Elderhostel sessions are held throughout the year.
